“In every culture and in every medical tradition before ours, healing was accomplished by moving energy.” – Dr Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, a Nobel Prize winner
Energy is the key to life – our life force and it comes from within.
Reiki is an ancient Japanese practice that uses the hands to gently improve the flow of energy through our energy centres, known as chakras and meridians.
Reiki promotes balance and harmony by helping to shift emotional and mental patterns, enabling the receiver to move forward with clarity, confidence and, more importantly, energy!
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key), often translated as ‘universal life force energy’, is a combination of two Japanese words – Rei, meaning ‘spirit’ or ‘universe’, and Ki, meaning ‘life force energy’. This natural, vibrational, hands-on healing practice utilises the presence of universal life force energy or Ki/Chi, to facilitate the body’s ability to balance and self-heal.
Reiki may assist and support:
- deep states of relaxation
- a reduction in the negative effects of stress and tension in the body
- a sense of emotional wellbeing and mental clarity
- a reduction of pain
- a feeling of greater empowerment, resilience and energy.
Reiki is not a substitute or replacement for medical care, treatment or diagnosis and it is recommended that you see a licensed physician or licensed health care professional for any physical or psychological ailment that you may have.
Reiki is a simple, gentle, hands-on energy technique that is used for stress reduction and relaxation and therefore may complement medical or psychological care.
Jo Hutchinson is a certified Reiki Master practitioner and offers Reiki alongside her coaching and mentoring work. Reiki sessions are done fully clothed, either lying on a table or seated on a chair.
“Relaxation is a key to self-care and wellbeing. Taking time out to care about yourself is not selfish – rather it’s all about self-care.
“Remember, on a plane, we are taught to put on our oxygen mask first before we can help others. We need to look after ourselves first so we can then put our energy into the things that matter.”

What others say about Jo:
“The treatment gave me such clarity of mind and a feeling of self-confidence in that clarity. Just speaking with Jo, I felt reassured and able to focus on what’s important to me. I recommend a Reiki session with her – it was great for releasing pain from the body too and she is amazing.” JE – Auckland
